In the seaside farming town of Salinas, California, years of grassroots organizing produced a victory for the immigrant farmworker community and health care advocates, who persuaded officials in Monterey County to extend and expand a pilot program giving undocumented immigrants access to prevention and specialty health care services.

Rise Up: Be Heard is a journalism training and mentorship program at FMG for young people living in California’s most underprivileged and health-challenged communities. The program is made possible by a partnership with The California Endowment.
